Plot

In late August in the year 1839, Daniel, a young man from London, awakens in the dark halls of the Prussian Brennenburg Castle with little to no memory about himself or his past.[4] All he can remember is his name, that he lives in Mayfair and that something is hunting him.[13][14] Shortly after awakening, Daniel discovers a note written to himself, from which he learns that he has deliberately erased his own memory, and that he needs to descend into the Inner Sanctum of the castle to kill the Baron, Alexander.
Daniel's exploration of the dark depths of the castle (following a trail of strange, pinkish red liquid that he seems to have left for himself,) is also a journey into his own erased past, as he discovers not only notes and his own journal entries, but experiences visions of past events that took place within the castle's countless chambers (including memories that are not his own). While he unravels the mysteries of Brennenburg Castle, he also finds himself hunted by a dangerous unearthly presence that manifests itself as a corruption that is slowly covering the castle in fleshy, acidic growths, and bizarre monsters against which his only defense is to flee. These events are linked and pertain to why Daniel came to Brennenburg.
Daniel was once a part of an archaeological expedition to Africa, in an attempt to excavate a tomb called "The Tomb of Tin Hinan". He came across a mystical orb buried within the ruins of the ancient temple, and brought its broken pieces back to England where he successfully assembled them. Daniel started to seek information about the Orb's history from a geologist and a professor.
However, he began to be plagued by nightmares, and several people who came across his path, and that of the Orb, died horribly at the hands of the "Shadow" that appears to dog his footsteps. Desperate and despairing, he received a strange letter from a Prussian baron named Alexander, who promised protection if Daniel would sojourn in his castle.
Daniel had no other choice but to flee to Brennenburg. As he arrived at the castle, he was greeted warmly by the baron, Alexander of Brennenburg and his servants, who appeared to be very pleased by Daniel's arrival. But the young man was unaware, the enigmatic deity had silently chased him to Brennenburg. Alexander knew this, and promised Daniel that they will banish the cosmic beast forever.
Alexander told Daniel all he knew about the Orb's power. Daniel doesn't seem to be interested about the artifact's true nature and suggested that they should throw it away. Alexander advised against that as Daniel would still be a part of the Orb, and eventually be consumed by the Shadow. Having the Orb, he could still fight back.
Alexander showed various parts of the Brennenburg castle to Daniel, including the archives, a refinery, a prison where he kept the "criminals", a bottomless pit called the Chancel, and the Inner Sanctum itself, where they can permanently banish the Shadow.
During their visit in the Inner Sanctum, Alexander began to tamper with the Orb, thus enraging the Guardian, whose fleshy residue appears in the Sanctum. Alexander quickly covers the Orb and the Shadow disappears. He tells Daniel that they have very little time to banish the Shadow. They must quickly start the Warding Ritual before it's too late.
However, Alexander's promise of salvation was a lie. He is actually an otherworldly life-form who has spent centuries in Brennenburg, attempting to open a "gate" back to his own world. To do this, he needs a substance called "vitae", which can only be harvested from the blood of agonized humans. He also needs a usable Orb. As such, Daniel is a boon to his efforts: Alexander employs him as his personal torturer, replacing his former servants who become the monsters Daniel flees from, and claiming that the vitae will fuel a ritual to banish the Shadow from Daniel's presence forever. Daniel initially embraces this role, particularly when Alexander tells him that the humans he is seizing are vile criminals. In order to produce enough vitae, Alexander and Daniel feed the prisoners they torture with an Amnesia potion, which makes them forget the method of their torture, and ensures that they will be just as terrified the second time around, without becoming accustomed or resigned to the pain (Damascus rose is alluded to as either one of the ingredients of the Amnesia potion, or as a flavoring that Daniel perhaps added to the mixture to disguise its taste.) As the experiments continue, however, Daniel's faith in Alexander is shaken, and finally shattered when he murders a little girl in cold blood following her escape from a prison cell. Despondent over how far he has come, and furious at Alexander's trickery, Daniel chooses to drink the Amnesia potion himself so that he can atone for his sins without the burden of crippling emotional trauma, leaving but a note to his new self to murder Alexander.

My Opinion
As I started the game i was given the impression of a adventure game. I slowly watched as Daniel stumbled into a room and then follow a pink trail of liquid. Then the unsettling happens as Fleshy membranes covers paths and screams echo across the castle  and as I turn the corner to find yourself facing a zombie of some kind. Unable to fight I felt forced to hide only to realize I held my breath afterwards. This game is undoubtedly a great experience to get your heart pumping. This is by all means not a game for those afraid of the dark.

Best played with headphones and the light off!

MY BRO, Goliath and the first 50 pages :3

My bro Goliath

By Scott Westerfeld
Third book in the saga.
(Spoilers ahead Beware)
Background:
Darwinists are people who belived in the mutation of organic organisms to meet the needs of changing society, while there were other called Clankers who used machinery instead. The two were at odds creating many useful thing, but slowly they turned towards making weapons of war. Then which Eurasia had split itself into two forces Darwinists and Clankers. Hence starting a World War

It starts off with Clanker Prince Alek of Hohenberg, the son of a noble and a commoner, on A flying mutant Whale-Blimp called Leviathan(the whale thing on the right of the top picture). Along with Dylan Sharp, a girl posing as a male so she can serve in the army, they are part of the crew aboard this living airship. Since Alek's arrival onto the ship he has outgrown his usefulness no longer being needed with anything mechanical. He is treated as an outcast among the crew due to being a prince of the opposing enemy. He couldn't learn to do anything else either aboard the airship and was a dead weight.  It was maddening to him, that a prince was useless. As he thought of these things another mutated animal appears flying towards the ship. Dylan points out that it was an imperial eagle saying it had two heads. Alek shuddered at the thought but interested. Dylan then pointed out it took messages from the Czar of Russia directly. As it sped towards the bridge they went to go see. When they left their cabin the whole crew was abuzz without any orders. They rushed to the captains room to see the eagle and among arriving they were greeted by a bird too large to fit in a cage so it was perched on the navigation table. Next to it reading  a message it delivered was Dr.Barlow a scientist who created these kinds of creatures. The first Chapter Dylan taking Alek with her and the eagle to the Perch inside Leviathan.

Civil Disobedience

As Quoted:
“I heartily accept the motto, "That government is best which governs least"; and I should like to see it acted up to more rapidly and systematically. Carried out, it finally amounts to this, which also I believe — "That government is best which governs not at all"; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have. Government is at best but an expedient; but most governments are usually, and all governments are sometimes, inexpedient.”
― Henry David Thoreau

This quote from Henry has a clear meaning. The government that forces things unjustly is not a government. He believed that the one that ran quickly and systematically would be the best for the people. For the less the government governed the better it was. I agree with the systematically part, but a government that does not force laws would not be a very good government. Which is why we have the police, a group of people sent to uphold the law in urban and suburban districts. They guarantee the safety of the people. Which is questionable as of lately. This gave rise to civil disobedience. Tying this in with his quote government is at best but an expedient or as a means to an end. People protest for their rights, which proves that the it doesn't start with government, but the people. A government is made by people so why not have it work for the people. Our government is composed of officials we elect, and as a mean to end they create laws or propose idea of the populace, as a country we then look and see whether or not we should say yes or no. Like all things, nothing is perfect and there are those who don't care about the government and worry only about day to day life. As stated by Henry as well, most governments are usually inexpedient or nonfunctional, meaning that they might be run by *cough* people with a certain degree of smartness or with those who are corrupt. If this were to happen which it does on a daily basis, you could impeach the official by a majority vote. All of that contributed to people rising in protest, demanding their civil rights. If you pay taxes you got a say too so speak up for yourself and don't sit on your couch mocking those who try to make life better. The government only has as much power as you allow it. In my opinion, you shouldn't let the government rule over you, instead take a stand and rule over them. Don't be a tyrant! As to connect with the quote the previous description "when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government they will have."(You think Henry would have accounted for Women's right too, but you can't have it all) . I believe it means that the type of government you will have, is a reflection of the type of people we are. If there is corruption we weed it out, if the is laziness we shape it back in line. The government is a machine, to make life easier for all of us.

If you would be so kind, please leave a comment regarding you opinion or you reflection of this quote, thank you very much.

Antigone Thing

Antigone Moral: Does it Still Apply to Us Today?

At the end of Antigone,  Choragos had quoted:
“There is no happiness where there is no wisdom;

No wisdom but in submission to the gods.

Big words are always punished,

And proud men in old age learn to be wise.”

To know whether or not this applies to us you have to, of course know what it means. His statement means that where no one is happy, there is no intelligence or knowledge. For example you fail your test and your sad because you didn't know anything. Now lets say you knew everything and got 100%, wouldn't you be happy? The second line meaning you aren't smart if you don't bow down to those with the power. Like obeying your elders or your boss at work. Big words are always punished means  that is you talk big you would be set in your place. Many people would disagree with this because nowadays we have the freedom of speech. So we can talk big all we want as long as we aren't violent or offending others. The final line means even those who are completely headstrong will learn to be wise with age. Meaning those people will gain life experience which allows them to act better and treat others in a different regard. Creon was the complete opposite of these. He was stubborn believing all he said was the law. In the end it cost him his family and all he treasured. After he lost everything he saw his mistakes. This would apply to us in modern times. i am pretty sure it wont happen in the same scenario, but this can work for those who quit their jobs on a whim. You know those people who get a job and quit within the week because they aren't good at it? I think that's a prime example of having no happiness because of lack of knowledge.

Cogito ergo sum

Can QT-1 Say ,"Cogito Ergo Sum?"

QT-1 is a robot designed to handle a space station in the absence of "Humans." When he is assembled by Powell and Donovan, he observes them. After hearing their explanation of how he came to be, he states this is impossible because he used reasoning to deduce that he was a superior being. Never needing to rest or eat, he could work for ever. Since he had reasoned that he was superior, he somehow reasoned that inferior being could not have created a superior one. So he didn't actually think, but used logi to deduce these things. If he could actually think, he could create ideas. Using logic to justify ideas and thinking of new ideas are completely different. Well you may think that then how did he think that his master was the power supply. My Answer to that would be that he knew of its existence because where else would he get his power or what else was he built to take care of. Since he had knowledge of this before hand it is not thinking but logic. How a human thinks is through sending commands through synapses. How does the robot think is what we have no idea. How can we truly determine whether or not it can think if we don not know how it thinks? Witht he information provided to us, all we know is that it can use logic to solve problems but cannot create solutions. For example, since there was no proof of earth existing, he did not believe it did. This clearly shows that it cannot improvise either. Meaning that it cannot use logic to combine ideas but only compare. Due to this evidence i conclude that QT-1 cannot think but only compute ideas. He will never be able to think unless he can learn to create new ideas.

Intro to gaming by LSD

I am Lovepreet Dhillon and over the course of a year I will blog about the latest PC games and old time classics everyone knows and loves. I will be doing multiple kinds of games ranging from First Person Shooters to MMORPG's. I will give you history and background about the games you know and love and ones you may not quite know. Then there will be in depth detail about the plot (I'll try not to spoil it). Then some graphics specs needed to play. Along with that I would give my own opinion about the game after I've played it. At the end I would include  many common errors and FAQs to help those who either play the game or want to consider getting. Of course, as courtesy I will include the Publisher of the game along with where you can buy it with ease.

For those of you with steam accounts I will also include my steam ID and whether or not you can get it on steam. I am open to suggestions for games you may want me to try and blog about. Also there will be links to my friend's blogs if you would be interested in reading those as well.

Please keep it clean in the comments :D.
