Heroes of Might and Magic VI

Heroes of Might and Magic VI

Heroes of Might and Magic VI is a Sequel to HOM V and is of course another RTS or turn based strategy Game. It was made by Black Hole Game Studios and released by Ubisoft. Most of the game is handled by an Online server to ensure secure gameplay and help immerse players in a more detailed experience. Through this online server they added new ways a player can use a character to their fullest but ill get to that later.

HOM VI Windows Requirements

My Opinion
This game had progressed far from its humble beginnings as a 2-D RTS which was move and attack. Each installment has brought something new and unique only to this series of RTS. When i first started it the opening Cinematic reminded me of all the warring factions in this series and i prepared for insane odds. The tutorial thoroughly covers every aspect of the game but is very draining on a person attention span. About half way through i was finding myself praying for the restrictions to be lifted but still it was very informative. Many new systems had been applied such as the Blood and Tears System.
Through this system any spell cast or actions made take you down a certain path. Each one with its benefits and disadvantages varying from character to character. The Blood path focuses on offense regardless of unit losses resulting in many head on conflicts. While Tear is troop preservation while inflicting as much damage as possible. This allows the player to carefully manage how their character will develop.
Next there is the new Conflux System allowing players to connect online for benefits and powerful items to be used in matches called Dynasty Weapons. You need to connect online and level up the item to unlock new benefits and powers to be used in battle. There also also the numerous new spells available as well as the anticipated New Races to come.

My Opinion
I had never played any of its predecessors so I was skeptical to buy it. Although i had 60$ to blow so i went ahead and did it! I started off watching the prelude and following Grant Brody. I was paying a lot of attention to the great graphics as they were honed down to a pebble. The ground had a large amount of detail and the mercenaries looked menacing. The shock during the prelude had me hooked as i found myself running to live in the jungle. To my surprise I was quickly reeled in by the story and found my self chased by a bear and terrorists all at once! After continuing on for a bit i was brought the the first town, Amanaki Town to meet the tribal people of the Island, The Rakyat. They quickly inducted Jason into their ranks upon learning of his situation and introduced him to life in Rook Island. It did take quite a while to get into the actual combat though. Though when it did it was exhilarating, the tutorials were very instructional on how to silently dispatch your foes and hide their bodies heh. I loved how many different ways there were to kill a single opponent i spent more time deciding how then actually dispatching them. The customizability of the weapons were very concise making you feel like you got the best out of you weapons and the skills are specifically split into multiple categories. This is a benchmark game raising the stakes for all other videos games of its kind.
