Dead Space 3

Dead Space 3

Background
Dead space 3 is part of a saga which was developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts. This game was very well received by the gaming populace and has grown into a classic must play.

Issac Clarke is the series main protagonist who has a history with an Alien Device called the Marker. The Marker is a relic left behind by an unknown race with powers beyond human understanding. Issac first encountered the threat when he was sent to the USS Ishimura planet cracker for maintenance. Him an his companions then encountered the remains of a human which spontaneously morphed into a Necromorph which then separated Issac from his companions.
He was forced to escape and fight off these monstrosities alone until finding his companions once again. When they reunited they were quickly picked off by the Necromorphs leaving Issac to find his way off the Ishimura alone. After finally escaping the ship he was haunted by nightmares which were the key to making another marker. A group of people called Unitologists believed the marker to be their salvation and hunted Issac and used his memories to recreate a marker of untold scale leaving Issac to destroy it. Along the way he me meets a girl named Elise who was dragged into the mess and they help each other to escape. They work together to destroy the new marker created and escape. After two years the Unitologists find Issac and wish to kill him to prevent such an event to ever occur again and so starts Dead Space 3.

My Opinion
This game is a meant to be played in a series so do not start with the third right off the bat. The game itself is made very well. At the start it picks off about a year later from the previous Marker event showing Issac and Elise have broken up and Issac's life in shambles. The action quickly picks up giving me the same caged in feeling like previous games in the series. Necromorphs come at the least susceptible moment giving you a scare. I always find myself alone in combat and often have to resort to run due to the lack of ammunition or having been caged in. The appealing aspects of this game as I have found is that its always giving me a scare and the customization possibilities you can do for character and weapon.Whether you prefer to melee or out-range the onslaughts are up to you. The story is intricate as well, always keeping you on edge and providing just enough information but not a lot leaving you to fill in the blanks. There are many bonus missions and puzzles to be solved to help immerse yourself in the apocalyptic world.

Where to get it!
Yes it is available on steam with the price above $50 as of this month but the price is well worth it.
Available on Amazon as well if you want a CD but may be more costly because of the non-changing price and shipping.

  1. Do you think the scarcity of ammo makes the game too difficult, or more enjoyable?

  2. It does because it forces the player to be careful what kinds of weapons they use because different weapons run on the same power source but use different amount and forces them to aim or risk dying
